What the new kids in the House are up to.

Amidst all the pain of the #TrumpShutdown, you may have missed some exciting news, about what the new kids in the House of Representatives are doing.

First, Abby Finkenauer, age 30, congresswoman from Iowa CD-1, is the first new member of Congress to author legislation this year and also the youngest woman ever to pass a bill in Congress!

Abby Finkenauer's first legislation is a bill which will help ensure the federal government invests in small businesses in rural America.

Go, Abby, go!

Second, 4 House Freshwomen, Jahana Hayes (CT-CD 5), Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-CD 14), Lauren Underwood (IL- CD 14), and Katie Hill (CA-CD 15) marched through the halls of congress yesterday, January 16th, looking for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

They sought the Republican Senate Majority Leader in their fight to end the shutdown.

Their unconventional journey dramatized the role that McConnell and the GOP play in this Trump initiated damage to America and Americans.

As the 4 Congresswomen pointed out, McConnell could end the shutdown immediately if he would call for votes on the bills to fund each of the Departments now closed. These bills were passed both by the House and the full Senate before the new year began and Trump indicated he wouldn't sign them.

We stand proudly with our new Congresswomen...the #WheresMitch 4 and the new champion of Small Business and Rural America, Abby Finkenauer.
