Hillary Wins! -CNN, Politico and Los Angeles Times, not to mention All Sane People. Trump Stalks Hillary and Threatens to Put Her in Jail.

According to a CNN/ORC poll of debate watchers and a panel of analysts from the Los Angeles Times, Hillary resoundingly won the debate last night. The CNN results showed a clear victory for Hillary with 57 percent saying she won, versus 34 percent for Trump.

This outcome was clear to millions of viewers worldwide.

Hillary addressed questions and laid out her plans for 1) the Supreme Court, 2) repair of our healthcare insurance, 3) tax reform, 4) the humanitarian crisis in Syria, and 5) our energy needs taking into account worker re-training for the coal industry.

She made clear she will be the President for all Americans, as she began the debate, saying, "Our country is great because we are good…we should celebrate our diversity and I have a positive and optimistic view about what we can do together."

Trump, true to form, simply told lie after lie (see below) and tried to avoid answering questions about his admission of sexual assault on women, which was captured on an NBC tape.

He also stalked Hillary and said he would put her in jail.

"You bragged that you committed sexual assault," moderator Anderson Cooper said, and then asked Trump if he understood the implications of what he said.

Trump lied, claiming, "I didn't say that at all. I don't think you understood what was said. This was locker-room talk," Trump said. "Certainly I'm not proud of it. But this is locker-room talk."

Cooper kept on, asking Trump if he had actually committed the acts he alluded to in the video – which included kissing women without their consent, and groping women's genitals. Trump repeatedly sought to turn the subject to other subjects, including talking about ISIS.

"I'm very embarrassed by it. I hate it. It's locker room talk," Trump said at one point. "I will knock the hell out of ISIS."

Locker rooms (and the athletes in them) all over the country protested his claim.

Hillary said that she considered Trump different from past Republican nominees. "I never questioned their fitness to serve. Donald Trump is different," she said.

"What we all saw and heard on Friday was Donald talking about women, what he thinks about women, what he does to women, and he has said that the video doesn't represent who he is…It represents exactly who he is."

Cathleen Decker, one of the Los Angeles Times' analysts wrote: "Maybe Donald Trump made himself happy by dredging the basement and talking about Bill Clinton's infidelities while his invited guests, women who said Clinton acted against them sexually, sat in the audience. But he came off as a petulant boor, fighting with Hillary Clinton and the moderators. He was unfocused and did nothing to advance his cause."

This video of creepy #ThugTrump stalking Hillary during the debate has gone viral.

He lied. He lied. He lied. The Trump credo seems to be Lie during a debate. People will believe you before the fact checkers speak.

Here are some of Trump's egregious lies from last night, not including his lies about birtherism, the growth rate of the American economy, the job market, tax rates, ISIS, the war in Syria, Syrian refugees, the San Bernadino terrorist attack and Hillary's tax plan:

  1. "I have not groped women."
  2. "I did not tweet about Alicia Machado being in a sex tape."
  3. "I didn't support the war in Iraq."
  4. "I paid a tremendous amount of taxes." (after he acknowledged he paid no Federal Taxes, making him the first major candidate in history of whom this is true.)
  5. "Michelle Obama attacked Hillary Clinton."
  6. "There is no hacking." (In response to moderator and Hillary's assertion of Russians hacking to affect the election)
  7. "The trade deficit is $800 billion."
  8. "Mrs. Clinton laughed about getting a man accused of raping a 12 year-old girl acquitted of rape."
  9. "Mrs. Clinton ignored 600 requests for security from Ambassador Stevens."
  10. "American growth is down to 1 percent and our taxes are highest in the world.
  11. "I have no business there and no loans from Russia."
In a New York Times column called He Just Lies, David Leonhardt lists 20 Trump lies at the debate.
True to form, Trump also continued blaming Hillary for everything including his own behavior - It was Hillary who started birtherism, not him. It was Hillary's fault he paid no taxes. And so it went.
This culminated in the biggest Trump Takeaway of #Debate2016 number 2 - A THREAT to PUT HILLARY IN JAIL when he was President, Which he didn't seem to care is not the American way. Political opponents don't threaten each other with jail in our Democracy. Trump growled, stalked and snorted, like the Third-World Dictator he aspires to be.

By contrast, Hillary, Presidential to the core, was the only adult on the stage. She told the truth because she does. She connected with each person who asked a question.

Voters can tell the difference between a candidate we can trust and a vindictive, petty con-man who threatens peace and the interests of the middle class. They will vote for a woman who has worked all her life to help Americans and give her a mandate to create 10 million new jobs, get rid of college debt and get the dark money out of politcs.

Hillary has been a change agent for Americans throughout her life.

Oh, one more moment to savor - EvenTrump, who, in sexist swears, has long challenged Hillary for lacking stamina, had one moment of truth. When asked what he admires about Hillary said, "She doesn't quit. She doesn't give up. I respect that." Her stamina was apparent against this bully.

She will be a great President.

The Washington Post editorial today called attention to Trump the Dictator-in-Waiting:
Mark the moment. A major-party presidential nominee is officially promising to lock up his political opponent, despite the fact that an impartial federal investigation concluded that no fair prosecutor would have charged Ms. Clinton in the matter of her e-mails. If anyone needed any more proof that Mr. Trump does not understand the meaning of rule of law as opposed to arbitrary rule of autocrat — that he would use the levers of the federal government in a vindictive, self-serving and corrupt manner — Mr. Trump provided it.

Here was Politico's assessment of the debate:
"BASIC TAKEAWAY - Trump did not turn in a strong performance. His constantly striding the stage and crowding Clinton looked deeply weird, even menacing. He probably didn't stop the bleeding over his repulsive comments about women revealed over the weekend. He spoke like a third-world dictator and appeared to have no clue what's happening in Aleppo. But Clinton landed no crushing blows and so Trump will continue to stumble along toward the finish line of a race he remains almost certain to lose. "

P.S. It is clear that Trump is gaming the debates by using the 90 minutes to spew lies and insults without interruption. The Commission on Presidential Debates will need to change the rules so that this behavior is not rewarded by the format. One proposal is to adapt some courtroom rules which would require moderators to rule lies out of order as they occur. This would alert viewers in real time and deter continued lying. Much like officials calling penalties as they occur in football and not waiting until after the game to do so!
