Democrats Resurgent in NH!

I have been knocking on doors in many campaigns in NH, in snow, rain and sunshine. Today was a sunny, crisp day, with spectacular views of Mount Washington, as we did the last minute GOTV in Conway. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse from Rhode Island came by to thank some of our scores of enthusiastic volunteers (led by outstanding office head Simone Bell). The Senator focused particularly on Hillary's foreign policy and security skills and her commitment to addressing climate change.

Many of the people we spoke to in towns and in country roads said they had already voted enthusiastically for Hillary, or were all set to vote on Tuesday. Some have arranged to drive older neighbors to the polling places at schools or town halls. While they dread the prospect of a Trump presidency, they believe that Hillary will be a great President if she is not paralyzed by a Republican controlled Senate. Hence, there is growing support for Governor Maggie Hassan who is running for the Senate seat against Kelly Ayotte, a Tea Party favorite and opponent of a progressive Supreme Court.

We spoke to many Independents who are crucial in this state as they represent one third of the electorate in NH. Independents in this state are famous for their flinty refusal to follow party lines, but they also have a set of values that is polar opposite to Trump's sleazy and corrupt practices in his business and private life. They have come to know Hillary well since the 1990s and they appreciate her genuine commitment to public service and to helping working people to succeed in a global capital system where the winners increasingly take all. People in the North country are hoping that Hillary, supported by a Democratic senate, will create millions of new jobs and make life better for the young and old who are struggling to get ahead.

Tonight, James Taylor is playing at a Hillary event 2 hours down 93 in Manchester. Dedicating his rendition of "You've Got a Friend" to Hillary, Taylor urged supporters to "keep your eyes on the prize" in the final run-up to Tuesday's election.

"They threw everything at her that they could think of, but they can't keep her bent," he said. "The fact is, I don't need to be terrified at the specter of a Trump presidency to be completely enthusiastic about Hillary Rodham Clinton."

Tomorrow, even more volunteers are signed up to make the final push before the last day of voting on Tuesday. By then, they will have heard the news that the FBI has yet again concluded that there are no grounds for charges regarding Hillary's emails, although they are mute on the investigation of Trump's Putin ties. This news will make it even easier to persuade any remaining reluctant independents to do their part on Tuesday to ensure America has strong and honest leadership.

Let's hope we have lots to celebrate Tuesday night in the Granite State!
