The latest cover of The New Yorker magazine depicts President Trump "in the hole" in response to his comment about some immigrants being from "shithole countries."

"'In the Hole' is the artist Anthony Russo's response to President Trump's recent comments about immigration," The New Yorker's art editor said Friday.

The primarily white cover, for the Jan. 22 issue of the magazine, depicts a glimpse of Trump's recognizable hairdo inside a large, black hole.

The Washington Post reported Thursday night that Trump made the comment during a private meeting with lawmakers about immigration, referring to Haiti, El Salvador and some African countries. His comments sparked major backlash from Democrats and some Republicans, as well as others around the world.

"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" he said.

The White House initially did not deny the reports, but Trump pushed back Friday morning, tweeting that "the language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used."

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who was present at the meeting, confirmed the reports and said that Trump "repeatedly" made the "hate-filled" comments.

Two GOP lawmakers [Tom Cotton, R-TN, David Perdue, R-GA] at the meeting said they did not recall the comments.

Post Script. At the beginning of the week, guided by the revelations in MicHael Wolff's Fire and Fury, we were discussing whether Trump was mentally fit to be in the White House. By week's end, it was his raw racism.

Only Donald Trump could use racist comments to distract us from that earlier conversation - as well as from his conspiracy to defraud America with Russia. Heaven help us!

Ask yourself something: are you willing to pay higher taxes and have less affordable health care so you can “own the libs” because that’s the price you’ll have to pay if the GOP agenda is enacted … you pay more, their cronies pay less.
