During the debate on whether to make Jeff Sessions the next Attorney General, I tried to read a letter from Coretta Scott King on the floor of the Senate. The letter, from 30 years ago, urged the Senate to reject the nomination of Jeff Sessions to a federal judgeship. The Republicans took away my right to read this letter on the floor - so I'm right outside, reading it now.

As you likely know, 49 GOP Senators, led by McConnell, voted last night (February 7, 2017) to remove Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA from the Senate Floor. She was reading Coretta Scott King's letter about Senator Jeff Sessions, Mr. Trump's proposed Attorney. This thwarting of Free Speech- more egregiuous because it was an attack on a Senator on the Senate floor- is unprecedented. Senator Warren then continued to read the letter and to speak on the steps of the Senate. 2 million watched her last night. You can watch her here.
